This region is located on the West of Burgos province and shows the traditional picture of Castile, where its great monuments are spread along vast extensions of cereal fields.
These lands concentrate some of the most beautiful and interesting churches in the province such as those in Sasamón, Villadiego, Villaveta, Castrojeriz, Grijalba or Santa María del Campo, among others.
It is well worth remarking its traditional architecture, closely related to work in the field, with buildings made of adobe, clay and brick such as pigeons’ lofts, wineries, winepresses, shepherds’ huts or haystacks. There is a rich patrimony related to Santiago’s Road and Castile’s Canal, which both cross this region.
